Dust and fur – Vacuuming the curtains with a soft brush attachment will help maintain a nice fabric look. Simply removing dust from the curtains can refresh their look. By doing this regularly, you can delay the large-scale cleaning. If you don’t have a brush or upholstery attachment, use a thin cloth with a rubber band over your regular nozzle to clean the drapes gently. For bigger areas of fur collecting at the bottom from your pets, you can also use a lint roller.
A steamer can also be used to refresh the look of your curtains, even natural fibre fabrics can be steamed gently
Dirt and Spots – You may use a mild detergent to spot clean any stains, we do not recommend this method for natural fibre blends. Doing this may also affect the appearance of the dyes and may affect the colour.
Dry Cleaning or Machine Wash
Soak the curtains in cold water. If hand-washing, make sure the detergent is thoroughly dissolved before immersing the curtains. Do not rub or wring. Squeeze out as much water as possible, or use a short washing machine spin. If machine-washing, use a program for delicates. If your curtains are made from delicate materials or natural fibres they should be dry-cleaned. The same applies for lined curtains and those with ornate stitching.
Blinds such as zebra blinds can be regularly dusted by a duster such as a swiffer. Regular maintenance dusting will prevent dust mites and allergies from triggering. If a thicker layer of dust forms on the blinds, use a vacuum with a brush attachment and gently sweep across, this will prevent the dust from being introduced into the air. After vacuuming use a damp microfiber cloth with some diluted cleaner or detergent and wipe down each section carefully. Smooth roller fabrics can be cleaned with magic erasers with some water or light strength cleansers. Other more woven roller fabrics will more likely hold onto stains or grease overtime. We recommend cleaning the roller as soon as you notice a stain.
