Studies have shown that windows are responsible for up to 30% of your home’s energy losses. The right insulating window shades can drastically prevent heat from escaping your home in winter and entering in summer, so you reduce energy loss and stay comfortable all year long. Better for the environment and better for your home.
Insulated Cellular Shades
The most insulating shades on the market are cellular shades from Hunter Douglas. They’re available in a variety of styles, from traditional honeycomb to cellular shades that combine the look of Roman shades or roller shades.

The Original Honeycomb Shades
Duette® Honeycomb Shades are the original cellular shades, featuring a unique honeycomb construction that traps air in distinct pockets for an extra layer of insulation at the window. An innovative window treatment that looks beautiful and insulates your home all year round, Duette® Honeycomb Shades were the first cellular shades, specially engineered to provide energy efficiency at the window in both cold and warm climates. Their specially engineered honeycomb construction traps air in distinct pockets, which creates insulation that can help lower your energy consumption and energy bills.
Duette honeycomb shades are one of the most versatile, decorate every kind of window you have—even tricky skylights and unusually shaped panes. Our signature honeycomb shades beautify every kind of interior.
Duette® Architella® Honeycomb Shades for Maximum Insulation
For even better insulation, you could opt for a honeycomb-within-a-honeycomb construction found in Duette Architella shades. This honeycomb design has more layers of fabric and insulating air pockets, which makes it even more energy efficient than the single honeycomb construction.
Insulated Roman Shades
If you want the energy efficiency of a cellular shade but love the luxurious look of Roman shades, Solera® Soft Shades feature soft folds that create air-trapping pockets for increased insulation. They come in gorgeous woven and nonwoven fabrics, colors, patterns and textures in both light-filtering and room-darkening opacities.
ENERGY-EFFICIENT ROMAN SHADES WITH SCULPTURAL APPEAL
Enjoy the timeless beauty of Roman shades with a contemporary twist.
The fluid, unique look of Solera® Soft Shades is created by combining the soft folds of a classic Roman shade with the construction of a cellular shade. These cordless soft shades bring together soft folds of fabric with a cellular construction. The result is a striking soft window treatment that’s also energy-efficient. Smartly designed pockets trap air and keep your home warmer or cooler, depending on the season.

Insulating Roller Shades

THE SIMPLICITY OF A ROLLER SHADE, PLUS ENERGY EFFICIENCY
There’s more than meets the eye with our Sonnette® Cellular Roller Shades.

That undetectable second layer helps make these cellular roller shades energy-efficient.

With PowerView® Automation, you can raise and lower your shades with a simple push of a button, tap on a mobile phone or voice control using a smart-home device, which can be helpful for hard-to-reach windows. But the PowerView system offers much more than just convenience. With it, you can schedule your shades to move automatically at certain times of the day and create personalized shade-setting Scenes within one room or your entire home. This easily prevents heat loss in the winter, blocks the harsh sun in the summer and protects your furnishings from damaging UV rays.
Responding to Light and Temperature Sensors
If you integrate your PowerView® Hub with a compatible smart-home system, you can program your shades to raise and lower in response to light- and temperature-sensor commands sent from that system. For instance, when your home reaches a certain temperature, you can set your shades to automatically block light from entering your room. This provides better insulation and also prevents the sun from fading and deteriorating your fabrics, carpet, hardwood floors and other wood surfaces. Or, to keep your home warmer in the winter, you could program your shades to open when the sun is shining in your room and close when it’s moved away. You can even customize the shades in each room to operate differently, depending on how you use the room and how much sun is coming in.
